“I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving: to reach the port of heaven we must sail with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail, and not drift nor lie at anchor.”
-- Oliver Wendell Holmes

This is My Journey ...

I lost my husband and eternal soul mate, Dennis Peacock, to Pancreatic Cancer in February, 2005. This was an unexpected trial that broke my heart, but with the help of Heavenly Father and my loving family and friends, I am carrying on. Together, Dennis and I have 7 children and 6 (soon to be 7) grandchildren. I still miss Dennis every day, but am grateful for our "forever family" and know that I will be reunited with him again someday. I am now remarried to a wonderful man, Darwin Cottle. He also lost his wife to cancer and we met in a bereavement group. He has 8 children and 36 grandchildren, so our combined family is wild and crazy -- but we are very blessed to have so many people to love. I have a great job as City Recorder for the City of Taylorsville. Darwin is retired, but likes to say that he works for me (lots of "honey dos.") He is also a temple worker and serves in the bishopric of a young single adult ward. We recently built a new home in South Jordan (Daybreak) near the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and we are really enjoying it there. We also have two sweet little dogs, Taji and Teja, that we like to spoil. I LOVE being a Grandma and spending time with my family!

I don't know how I got so lucky to find two such wonderful men to love me! I know I'm very blessed to have my sweet Dennis on the other side of the veil waiting for me, but I'm also very fortunate to have Darwin here in my life as I continue my journey on earth. He is SO good to me! After Dennis died, I didn't think I could go on. Darwin saved me and has taught me to smile again. I told him once that he was like the scotch tape that holds my broken heart together. He said, if he had to be tape, he'd really rather be known as duct tape, because it's more manly... so, now he's known as my "Duct Tape Man." I know that Heavenly Father and Dennis sent Darwin to our family to help us heal and to care for us. He is a wonderful companion and is so kind to my kids and grandkids. They have truly grown to love him. He is a wonderful patriarch to his own 8 children, his 36 grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren (that's right he also has 4, soon-to-be 5, "great-grand's!!!"). Darwin works hard to help me honor Dennis' memory and to carry on his legacy, and we do the same for his eternal companion, Gwen. Darwin is the most sunny, positive person I have ever known. He always sees the good in others and never has a bad day. He is an awesome husband, companion, father, grandfather, step-father, son-in-law, brother, and friend. Darwin constantly looks for ways in which to serve others. He is such a good example to me. I love you, Sweetie!
